While Federico was in Mexico last week, we had an interesting Wednesday night. I took the kids downstairs to feed them close to 6 p.m. Victoria was stomping around telling me what she did and did not want to eat. Gabriel was in his high chair eating bananas. Ho-hum. It suddenly occurred to me that I had laundry in the garage I needed to switch to the dryer. While I was out, I heard Victoria saying something inaudible and the words "I'm coming" weren't completely out of my mouth before I heard a distinct clicking noise. As in a deadbolt fastening clicking noise. To make a 1.5 hour-long story short...
* Victoria wasn't able to unlock the door and let me in. Locked the bottom lock in the process of trying to help. I did my best to stay calm, not show her I was worried and coach her, but as soon as she whimpered, "I can't do it, Mommy!" I told her it was okay and left to find help. She cried herself to sleep on the couch.
* Note - Practically the entire back of our house is windows, so I was able to view both of them.
* Gabriel was safe, but screaming in his high chair. If he hadn't been there I probably would have taken more drastic measures to get back in the house.
* Got to meet our super-nice neighbors who brought me water, let me borrow their phone, and waited with me until the locksmith finally showed.
* 135 Dollars, 20 mosquito bites and 1 hour 20 minutes later - I was back in the house hugging my sweet babies. It took me a while to rouse Victoria from her couch nap, but I successfully moved her to her room 45 minutes before bedtime.
Whew! YES! I do now have a spare outside.
We headed to the airport around 11 a.m. only to return shortly after, because my flight to MS was canceled due to bad weather en route. We were rescheduled for a flight at 10:30 Saturday morning. I arrived in MS with just enough time to grab a quick lunch with Mom & Clare and then we headed back to the house so I could get dressed for the wedding. It was an outdoor do and it has been quite soggy around these parts lately. I took a change of shoes and made it to the ceremony with a little time to spare. The brides were beautiful, the ceremony was lovely, the rain held off and the music was rockin'. We left the next day at 12:30 p.m. Gabriel did great on both flights - he slept the entire flight back.
Things have been pretty tame this week. I had to take Gabriel to have some bloodwork done. Neither of them have had to have blood drawn before and I was hoping for a finger prick, but wasn't so lucky. I had to hold him down while two techs put a needle in his arm to get two vials of blood. I hate it, but am glad to report that the tests were fine. We are going tomorrow to get Gabriel's passport in preparation for our December travels. Saturday is a children's harvest festival at the church. Victoria is excited to pick out her pumpkin. The weather looks very promising - clear skies and a high of 77 degrees. Glorious!

Wow, that sounds like a whirlwind. I can't believe that you were locked out for that long! I'm glad you were able to, at least, see them. I hope that you have a calm weekend
