Pumpkin Festival

This past weekend we drove to the Northshore to check out Red Bluff Farms' Pumpkin Festival in Folsom, LA. We met up with our friends Gene & Sarah who have an almost 7-month old little boy. Sarah used to work with Federico at the bank. She's from Natchez, MS, and married a guy from Monterrey, Mexico. Sound familiar...

The farm was nice. We had a picnic of burgers & chips and then started checking out the place. Victoria went right up to a baby calf and stuck her hand in his mouth and then tried to kiss him. The parents around were horrified, but I had done the same thing when I was younger. Putting my hand in a calf's mouth - not the kissing. When they're babies they love to suck on your fingers like a bottle. It's a neat feeling! Yes, I was raised on a farm! After I assured the parents it was completely harmless, a couple of them encouraged their kids to do the same. I drew the line at the kissing of the calf. She was pretty disappointed.

She got to go inside a tipi, eat some pumpkin pie (which she loved), see a dairy cow get milked, and enjoy being outdoors on a Saturday. Gene & Sarah invited us over for a cookout after the farm. It was a great day! Victoria really enjoyed being around baby Andrés all day - it was good practice. You can click on the picture below to see an album of photos from the day.
