Over the Mighty Mississippi

This has been a fairly busy week for us. Thursday, Victoria & her classmates enjoyed a field trip to the fire station. She came home with a lot of great tips to pass along.

Friday was another field trip. They went to the barnyard and petting zoo at the MS State Fair. Gabriel & I picked up Victoria from school, we all grabbed some lunch and headed back to the fair together to meet up with Grammy. As our tickets were running out, Gabriel saw that big bumpy slide and his eyes got wide. So, we headed over and climbed to the top. He sat in my lap and we sped down. I could tell he really enjoyed it when he had already climbed halfway up the stairs to go again...before I even had a chance to stand. So, we went down again...and again.

Saturday morning, I drove over to Vicksburg for a 5-mile race over the old Mississippi River bridge. It was a gorgeous day and a big race - lots of participation. We ran over the bridge and into Louisiana. I have never run to another state before! I've also never done a race that is longer than 3.1 miles. I was pleased with that accomplishment and my time wasn't too shabby, either!

It has become a post-race tradition for Mom to take my pic under the ginkgo tree.
