Calling In Sick

I am writing this while covered in the product of two runny noses and lots of tears. Victoria got sick for the 2nd time in 4 weeks this past weekend. Even though I tried really hard to keep her away from Gabriel - he came down with the same symptoms a few days ago. I even told her she could only kiss his feet - which she did with the same enthusiasm. Since Gabriel is so small, not even a month old yet, I decided it was better to play it safe and get them to the doctor. I ended up seeing a doctor in Jackson who is with the same group that I went to growing up. He was a very sweet man, but doesn't hold a candle to my great pediatrician back in Metairie. After repeating over and over how very strong Gabriel is, he prescribed some antibiotics and we were on our way to the pharmacy. He told me not to trust the baby alone on any high surfaces, that, "he will probably be rolling over very soon!"
A peek into my new life as a mother of two...the morning I called the doctor's office at 8:30 a.m. to see if I could be seen we were all still in pajamas. The nurse said the only thing she had available was a 10:15 appt. I warily said yes, hung up the phone, and began running around the house gathering things like a mad woman. I got Victoria ready, I was next, and then the one most likely to ruin his clothes before we got in the car. We walked in the office (which I've never visited and had to find directions) at 10:12. Not bad, Mom!
Caring for kids is one job where you are not allowed to call in sick. Thank goodness I have my mom, dad, and sister helping me - at least some of the time.

Gabriel at 3 weeks.

Aw, I hope they feel better soon. And I hope you don't get sick too!

Isn't it amazing how just a trip to the doctor is a huge feat to conquer with 2 kids! Sounds like you pulled it off just fine. Sorry that everyone is sick. Hopefully, they'll be better soon. It's fun to see a recent pic of Gabriel. He's such a cutie.

Every time we go to a public play place, CP will come down with something. The last time it hit us, it went around the house twice. Yayyy!
