Good Morning, Sanibel!
Our amazing vacation began Friday before last (Sept. 2nd). We picked Grammy up after work around noon and started our journey to Sanibel Island. We drove around 390-miles that evening and spent the night close to Tallahassee. Bright & early the next morning was 480-miles to our beach destination. It was raining heavily as we got closer, but the rain stopped and the skies opened just as we were crossing the causeway from Ft. Myers to the island. We enjoyed some beautiful weather the entire weekend. Shells - there were plenty. The ocean was pretty rough due to the tropical storms & such out in the Gulf...so Mom's dream of serious shell hunting were crushed. On the beaches there are more shells than sand. Although pretty & plentiful...they were not the exotic types she was hoping to see. We even took the kids on a bike tour to one of the island's other beaches. That was fun and extremely tiring. Overall, we really enjoyed our time in/on Sanibel. It was a perfect way to spend the holiday weekend.
